Episode 103 - Baby in the House
Segment #4 - Nightlights
Activity - Baby Lotion Bottle Bird Nightlight HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
- Pump style baby lotion bottle (or other similar style), cleaned and dried
- Low wattage nightlight style fixture with clips, bulb and cord
- Small plastic deli container, cleaned
- Electrical tape
- Scissors
- Craft knife
- Hot glue gun
- 2 plastic spoons
- Pom poms, feathers, googly eyes and other craft supplies for decorations
LET'S GET STARTED:
- Unscrew bottle cap and remove the tube that extends from the pump. Screw pump cap back onto bottle.
- Cut a hole in the bottom of the bottle large enough for nightlight fixture to fit securely.
- Cut the same size hole in the middle of the bottom of a plastic deli container. Cut out a groove in the rim of the container to allow space for the cord.
- Paint the outside of the deli container to look like a nest.
- Decorate the bottle to look like a bird, use a pom pom for the head, attach eyes, and add craft feathers.
- To make the bird's feet, cut the handles off of the spoons. A nipper type tool works better than scissors, if you have one.
- Glue the spoon cups curved side up onto the deli container, placing one on each side of the hole.
- Glue bottle onto the spoons, making sure it is sturdy and stays in place. Let dry.
- Push nightlight through hole in deli container and into hole in bottle. Secure in place.
Variations: Use a small soap pump bottle and make a dragon or a laundry detergent bottle to create a spaceship, or use your imagination and create anything!
