Episode 122 - Appreciating Family
Segment #3 - Soap Shaping
Activity - Decorative Glycerin Soaps

HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

  • Scented or unscented bars of pure clear or colored glycerin soap (available at large supermarkets, discount stores and pharmacies)
  • Candy-mold tray or ice cube trays
  • Knife

LET'S GET STARTED:

Unwrap a bar of soap, slice it into several pieces and place in a microwave safe container in the microwave for about 30-45 seconds or until bar becomes liquid.

Remove from microwave, cool slightly and poor into a plastic candy-mold tray to create fun shapes. Ice cube trays work well for cube shapes. The glycerin soap will harden quickly and pop out of the mold easily.

For extra fun, fill the molds half full and add a coin, charm or miniature plastic toy to each shape. When soap hardens, pour more liquid over the charm. Or use a contrasting color for a two-tone look.

Gift-wrap the shaped soap in cute little bags cinched together with pretty ribbon.
