Activity - Mini Drum Set

HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

• Various sizes of empty, clean soup and vegetable tin cans (Be sure edges are smooth and labels are removed.)
• Acrylic paint and paintbrush
• Stickers or whimsical craft items to decorate cans
• Heavy duty paper
• Rubber bands
• Wooden spoon, metal spoon, unsharpened pencil with eraser

• Wooden skewer
• 3 beads
• 2 frozen juice can lids
• Glue or glue gun
• Tape

LET'S GET STARTED:

1. Paint outside of cans and let dry.   Decorate with stickers or glue on pompoms or other craft items.
2. Wrap heavy duty paper that has been cut in circles over the open end of some of the cans.   Hold the paper in place with rubber bands.
3. Turn the rest of the empty and decorated tin cans open side down on the table.   Use the spoons or the eraser end of the pencil to bang out a rhythm.

1. Thread a bead 3 inches down on the wooden skewer.   Glue in place.  
2. Poke a hole in the center of a juice can lid and thread it onto the skewer.   Add another bead and a second lid.   Top with another bead and glue into place.
3. Tape the opposite end of the skewer to the side of a tin can.   Hit with drumsticks as you play on the drum set.
